Galle fort filed visit

In 15 ^th of October we went Galle fort.  At 11 am we entered to Galle fort. In Galle fort there are special heritage value coming in Dutch period. And also there some kind of architecture value also.                                

                                                                                    

After we entered to Galle fort we divide as groups and began our observation. Earlier day our module coordinator misses. Shalini mariyathas give to us some tasks. We found lots of things about Galle fort.

                                                                                             We studied the heritage value of Galle fort, architectural value, special characters of buildings and streets escape and also we studied special activities going on Galle fort area.

When we observe Galle fort we identify special characteristics in those buildings. Those columns, big verandas, middle compounds and roof styles are becoming from ancient Dutch architecture. Therefore Galle fort has a special heritage value and we must conserve it.

I think in Galle fort conservation is going on vehemently. Yes it is good and it need to us. But I think there are some kinds of problems also.

In this Galle fort area there are public, residential and commercial places also. I feel most of the conservation are happen in first part of the Galle fort. In that area most of the buildings are public buildings. We know Dutch times usually use to the buildings “samara” and “white” colour.   I saw in this area already use those colours and conservations. I heard that due to the chorgum in this area going big repair. But other parts of area we can’t see that.

And also main thing  in Galle fort area most of the places use to attracting tourists. In Galle fort  some people didn’t repair their houses. They lived with damaged roofs and walls. It also a big problem to conserve those things. Those buildings are destroyed because of that. Therefore they sold their houses to foreigners. 

Those people use those building to their commercials.

In this Galle Fort filed visit personally I lean lots of things about this area. Because all detail we found that by ourselves. no one guided us. We found all details by observing. And also we got good experience and fun in this filled visit.
