Image result for tourism in sri lanka SIGIRIYA

Tourism has become a major foreign exchange earner today. There are many tourist attractions in our country. The salubrious climate in the hill country, the beaches, the waterfalls, our ruined cities, wild life sanctuaries and our cultural pageants are some of them.

As Sri Lanka is a developing country, we should have more and more ways of earning money. Tourism helps to earn a lot of money to invest in government projects and to make this a developed country. The government should identify all elements that are relevant to the long term sustainable development of tourism. The developments of the sector need to be supported by large inflows of foreign resource both financial and personal.

Tourism creates a large number of employment opportunities. Thousands of our youth work in tourist hotels. Tourists like very much to visit rural areas in Sri Lanka. Therefore our rural masses can sell their products such as handicrafts to tourists and earn some money.

Tourism paves us the way to display our heritage and our natural resources to the world. As  Sri Lankans we are proud of our country and we must take this opportunity to gain the world reputation as a tourist paradise.

Now let us look at the bad effects of tourism. It is said that tourism has affected the values of our peoples,  particulary our youth. It is true that some tourists sengage in anti-social acts. Some of the tourists are drug addicts or perverts. They corrupt our youth. Also they spread incurable disease such as AIDS. But we should keep in mind that all the tourists are not blacksheep. Many tourists come to rest and enjoy the beauty of Sri Lanka while some others come to enrich their knowledge about our culture. They do not harm anything or anyone. Some people, especially our youth tend to follow the life – styles of the tourists.

Some tourist do not respect our sacred places. They behave in an indecent way in such palces. It has become a great threat to our traditions and culture.

Tourism is a good money spinner. The Ministry of Tourism should find solutions to overcome the drawbacks to tourism and develop it.

There is a dearth of experienced tour guides in our country. This has become a great disadvantage to the tourists. Therefore the responsible authorities should take steps to train a set of tour guides who have a thorough knowledge of our culture and history.

If we fulfill the existing shortcomings in the tourism, we will be able to attract more and more tourists to our country and earn more and more money.

English is the most widely used language in the world. Nearly two third of the world population use English language. In countries like England, the U.S.A, Canada, Australia and in several parts of Africa, it is the mother tongue. In many commonwealth countries like Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia it is the second language.
English is important not only as an international language, but also as a language of trades, as a link language, as a language of mass communication, as a second language and a language of everyday life and as a means of obtaining foreign employment.
“English can be regarded as the window to the world.” This idea was expressed by the first prime Minister of India, the late Jawaharlal Nehru.
There are several communities in Sri Lanka. English plays an important role as a link language. It promotes good relations among all the communities. If we know English we can communicate with other ethnic groups easily.
Today the world is highly advanced in Science and technology. Almost all the books on these subjects are written in English. If we know English we can read and understand the facts given in these books.
At present, the whole world has become a global village through modern methods of communication such as Telex, Fax, E-mail, Internet and so on. English is the main language that is used in all these media. As our economy is based mostly on import – export trade, we have to deal constantly with other countries. English is essentials for this purpose.
English is essential for higher studies too. Particularly English is essential for course on medicine, engineering and computer science. Most of the books on these subjects too are written in English. Apart from that, English is used as the official language of communication of all the international organizations such as SAARC, UNO, UNICEF, and IMF. Those who participate in these conferences will be able to contribute effectively, if they have a good command of the English language.
Most of the research in medicine, science and technology is carried out in English. The results of these research activities are published in English.  Therefore, without knowledge of English no one can pursue a specialized course of study on these subjects. For those who seek foreign employment too English is indispensable.

Was animals are projected

As civilized people we should show kindness to animals. They are weak and they depend on us. We should treat them with kindness and sympathy.

Man has several domestic animals like horse, dog, cat, rabbit, cow and bull. These animals are useful and faithful. We should look after them well. The dog is regarded as the most faithful animal to man. Elephants and horse are trained by man for various purposes.

We should never forget that animals are an integral part of our environment. They too have a right to live on the earth. Killing animals is a sinful deed. In certain countries like India, animals are treated well with kindness. They never kill cattle for flesh.

There are lot of threaten species.. Elephant killed for its tusks. Deer is killed for its skin. Rabbit is killed for its flesh. These are the wicked deeds committed by human beings. They do not have any sympathy on animals.

The physical and emotional make up humans and animals are alike. They too fear torture and death. Some wicked people are in the habit of deriving pleasure by harassing innocent animals. Sometimes, we see animals like cattle and goats being transported in lorries in an inhuman manner. They are bulls are beaten and forced to pull carts. In the end they are killed for flesh.

Children should be taught from their very young days to love all animals and to refrain from harassing them.

EDUCATION IS THE FORTUNE OF MAN

Image result for education

“One should receive education well, because it is the only thing that cannot be taken away from us by thieves”.
The above is the translation of a famous Sinhala advisory poem that shows the importance of education.
In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, education is listed as one of the main right of a human being. Education is necessary for all – round development of a human being. Success name, fame, prosperity, all accrues if one has proper education.
Sri Lanka has a free educations system. It is said that Sri Lanka is the only country in the world where education is given free from nursery school to the University.
There are thousands of graduates in our country who are still unemployed. This has become a burning problem. This situation has been to be due to the shortcomings extend in our education system, especially in the curriculum. The curriculum should be changed according to the needs of the current world.
Every person has a desire to become something big in life and hope to benefit mankind and his nation in some special way. He may like to be a doctor, a teacher, an engineer, a businessman, a politician or a scientist and so on. But we must not forget that everyone is unable to achieve his or her target.
Vocational education is the only solution to the problem of those who cannot pursue higher education. There are many students who do not have the resources to pursue professional courses that cost much. So they prefer taking up some vocational course that is within their means. The government should take steps to establish vocational training centers on village level to enable the rural youth to improve their inborn talents and find a suitable employment.
It is crystal clear that the sort of book – oriented education that extended in this country for over half a century is not the best to face the next century. Education system should be revised, better planned. It should be more practical, more jobs – oriented, more agriculture or industry oriented.
According to Emerson “The things taught in schools and colleges are not an education, but the means of education.” Education is always an ongoing process, where a person learns something each day of his life.

Because of these things there are lot of problems in Colombo district. Environment pollution is the beigest problem in Colombo area. There are land pollution, air pollution and also water pollution. And also we can identify traffic problem.

Television – good or bad

Image result for family watching tv

There  are many sources of getting information in the world today. Television, radio, fax,  e-mail and internet are some of them. Out of all these television has become the most powerful source of getting information.

Mankind indebted to Baird, the famous scientist who invented the television. Television plays an important role in the modern society. It is a boon to the teacher and the leaner. Several programs are telecast with the help of satellites. The introduction of  colour T.V. has made this medium very popular and effective. Business community, farmers, teachers, students and in short every section of the society derive benefits from this medium.

A television has two fold benefits. We can see the incidents that are taken place in different parts of the world and also we can listen about such incidents over the T.V.
Also, television gives mental satisfaction to all. After day’s hard work, one can comfortably sit and enjoy various programs such as movies, dramas, musical concerts and cartoons. News programs too have become very popular.

The T.V. has gives us entertains. But now days there are some T.V. programs helps to student’s education. Like our counties some rural areas schools didn’t have enough teachers. But we can’t found a home without T.V. now. Their for those children can learn with those programs.

Now let us look at the bad effects of the T.V. parents and teachers often complain that children neglect their suties because of the television. They also say that certain programs are not at all suitable for children. There is another complaint to the effect that most programs show anti-social activities such as murder and robbery. They say that these programs pollute the minds of their children. Therefore the authorities concerned should look into matter and take action to remedy the situation.
Finally I think anything becomes good or bad by the way it is used. With proper control and enforcement of standards, the bad effects could be removed.

PROBLEMS FACED DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Developing country means like Sri Lanka, India like those countries. Those counties didn’t become the developed like Japan and European countries. Those developing counties faced lots of problems. Because of those problems those counties so very difficult to reach name called developed country.

There are many problems. We can identify those problems in deferent sides. There are human problems and environment problems. When we talk about the human problems mostly they faced the population problem. When we think about India; India didn’t have enough infrastructure facilities. Those counties didn’t have health facilities, education facilities, economical facilities etc. Not only do those things some people have basic want also.

Because of the increasing population is affecting other problems also. In those countries there are so much slums and shanties. Those people create lots of illnesses because of the polluted environment. And also another problem those countries faced the traffic problem. Those countries mostly used their Wellers and motor bikes. Because of the traffic problem environment also getting polluted. Mostly air and noise pollution increase because of the traffic.

And in those countries mostly face unemployment. Mostly young people faced this problem. Because of the unemployment there are some conflict with those people and government.

And  literacy also a main problem that developing countries facing. Without good knowledge for people can’t make their country developed. When country developing people need to have technological and mechanical knowledge also. New things didn’t come without this knowledge. Intelligence flowing also main problem those countries facing.

Intelligent people also try to go other county to do their jobs. Those developing countries can’t give them enough salary to those people. In Sri Lanka we can see this problem mostly. Most of the people learn using our country resources and after they went other country to do their job. How those countries developing like this situation. Labour flowing also happen in those countries.

Developing countries faced lot problems because of the high population. And also they must think about the qualitative of their people. People are the most important character in a country. They need to be healthy and intelligent. There for developing countries need good and qualitative population to developed their countries.
